Dear Reader,
Welcome to issue 3!
This week I have a little system that I’m going to share with you.
I’ve had an interest in racing systems for many years, but I see them more nowadays as frameworks or foundations upon which to build a profitable approach, rather than just turn-key solutions.
This is because every race is completely different, and as such it needs to be judged on its own merits even when the system says its good, I prefer to look at the runners and their credentials before putting the cash down.
This is a system which I tested for a few months a long time ago and was able to show a small profit with very little input or variation from the rules.
I’ve been testing it out again since the start of the year and have impressed myself with the performance!
Here’s the basic approach:

1. Select any race from the days meetings where the betting forecast (Racing Post) points to a clear two horse race, i.e.. the first two in the betting must be at least two points clear of the third favourite. The favourite might be around 6/4 and the second favourite 2/1. The next horse in the betting might be around 4/1 or better. In essence we are looking for a race where the likely winner will be either of two horses with the remainder much less likely.
Avoid using odds on horses. We need two short priced horses, but not so short as to reduce the return.
Should more than one race look a likely prospect, use the one with fewest runners. This obviously reduces the danger of an outsider winning.
These horses we will call Horse A and Horse B.
2. The next step is a little easier. Locate the race with the fewest runners where the favourite is 9/4 or better. Most days you will find a race with between six and nine runners suitable. We will use the first three in the betting forecast for our bet. These may be priced at, say, 9/4, 3/1 and 7/2.
These we will call Horse C, Horse D and Horse E
3. We now combine our selections in six doubles, with an equal stake on each. The doubles are: AC, AD, AE, BC, BD, BE
To win, we obviously need one of our first two to win AND one of the other three.
How to write your bet
3.10 York
Horse A
Horse B
4.25 Kempton
Horse C
Horse D
Horse E
2 x 3 = 6 Doubles at £1.00 = £6.00 Staked Stake £6.00
These bets are often referred to as “cross doubles”.
Using the above plan anyone who can read a race card can find suitable selections, however by applying a little form reading, logic, and of course getting the best odds I think it becomes a much more potent method.
I’ve been using this approach to find selections since the start of January. I’ve bent the rules a little and I’ve tried to avoid days when there wasn’t two strong races to get involved in, but the starting point was the plan outlined above. I’ve been recording my selections, which I’ve been betting to small stakes, on this forum thread:

Like millions around the world, last weekend I settled in to watch coverage of the Superbowl 43 or XLIII as the Americans put it.
From a betting point of view I had some interest on the game; with 2pts at 6/4 on Pittsburgh from before they won their playoff, and also 1pt on Arizona +7 at 10/11. As the final score was 27-23 to Pittsburgh, I actually won BOTH bets. My tipster for the NFL is “Mr X” who runs the "Linebacker" service for American Football tips as well as the BetBank alerts service that I mentioned in last weeks Bulletin. The Linebacker service will be dormant now until the start of next season and I’ll be in touch then when I hope I can secure a deal for you. As this is an excellent service.
Anyway, back to the SuperBowl. This was one of the best SuperBowls. A stunning come back, a 100 yard interception return (that means he went the length of the pitch to score!), a last gasp winning touchdown, it had it all. But what impressed me the most, was the attitude of the Americans. They started affairs by honouring the aircrew from the recent NY plane crash, who helped ensure all 155 on board survived after the pilot had to ditch the plane in the Hudson River. They followed up with Jennifer Hudson singing her take on Star Spangled Banner, the obvious outpouring of pride that the yanks show simply wouldn't be normal on these shores. In contrast to all this, we British started the week with our nation literally brought to a standstill by about 3 centimeters of cold white stuff. I mean, you’d think we’d never seen it before! Millions stayed at home, public services ground to a halt, patients had their operations cancelled. The old British attitude of try, try again, seems to have been replaced by “give up at the first setback”. (Of course, this is easy for me to say being someone who works from home!)
I’ve seen a similar attitude with some peoples approach to betting. They often give up at the first sight of a losing run without any foresight for the longer term. This mental toughness is something I’ll be covering in a future issue. I’ll provide a step guide to staying on the right track through the rough periods in order to show long real long term gains.

- ITV managed to show 8070 seconds of the Everton Liverpool FA Cup tie. But missed the 5 seconds that counted.
- The NFC team at the SuperBowl has won the coin toss 12 consecutive times, odds of that happening? More than 4000/1.
- The Steelers are now the only team to have won 6 SuperBowls.
- The London Bowl at Wembley in October is sold out already.

The main sports betting focus this weekend has to be on the Rugby, with the Six Nations kicking of Saturday and the new Super League season starting Friday night.
I’m gonna be relying on my “Mr X” for expertise on both of these and you can still sign up for the Bet Banks free trial here. I know there is a need to fill in a direct debt mandate but I can personally vouch for this company. They are not a flyby night outfit out to rip you off by any stretch of the imagination and are completely transparent in the way they operate. In fact the only time I had an issue with them, due to not getting a text message, they refunded my months subscription without me even asking for it!
In Friday's opening Super League clash,
Leeds will be looking to put the new boys Celtic Crusaders in their place, and Leeds -20 with Bluesquare looks the Handicap pick.
A better bet though is perhaps to look to Man Utd once again to win and to do so without conceding a goal. Man Utd to “Win to Nil” at West Ham is 7/4 with Ladbrokes, although I prefer just taking 1-0 and 2-0 both at 6/1.

This site has been in the media a lot this week so I decided to see what it was all about and give it a go. If you want to see what all the fuss is about start by following me, here’s the link: https://twitter.com/PaulRuffy
Kind Regards
