Tips via SMS

This week I’ve introduced tips via text message, free of charge, to all of my Winning Racing Tips members, a lot of people asked me for them and finally I’ve been able to make them part of the service. It overcomes the problem of emails getting delayed or having to be near a computer to place your bets. It also means that everyone gets the information at the same time and can take advantage of the advised odds. Take up on the free trial has been huge but as I’ve already had people drop out there are still some places available. Join here.

Worth Adding To Your Portfolio?

When Matt Watson, the creator of the “FP system” contacted me last year for my opinion on his system I was quite frank with him and said that I wasn’t a fan of “target” recovery staking. Although I’d known Matt for quite a while and was sure he wasn’t a “here today, gone tomorrow” type character, I’d seen many similar approaches fail many times before. So I was happy to sit on the fence and see how it progressed. Looking at results so far it appears to have passed the transition from “working in principle” to actually working in practice. Therefore I’m going to be looking into this a little more and will put a full review online soon. But if you want to make your own mind up take a look here:

Week in Focus

Looking back at the week we saw a momentous event as the great Tony McCoy recorded his 3000th winner. McCoy is a punters friend in terms of the effort he puts into all of his rides, however avoid backing his rides at short odds. The McCoy factor often means they can be “overbet” and hence poor value.

There was a massive shake up in the Gold Cup betting with Denman being beaten a wide margin by Madison Du Berlais. I was Impressed with Madison Du Berlais and advised my members to have a small bet each way at 10/1.
Kauto Star is now a short priced favourite again although I think I’m right in saying he’ll be the first ever horse to regain the Gold Cup if he is successful. In any case it is sure to be a very interesting race.
There hasn’t been much doing on the racing front this week, with the weather accountable for the loss of many meetings we’ve been left with All Weather meetings only most days. When I did get involved I managed to get both my selections in my doubles beaten by National Hunt horses running on the All Weather! That says it all about the current situation that the weather has caused and it’s a time for caution.

Sports wise Leeds covered the -20 handicap last Friday and Man Utd won 1-0 at West Ham meaning we’ve picked up 3 out of 3 winning bets mentioned in the newsletter so far. This week I’d like to make it 4 and I think I’ve uncovered some good value in the FA Cup this weekend.

Bet for the Weekend

FA CUP Sheffield Utd v Hull.

I’m not quite sure how the blades have been installed as strong favourites for this match, granted they are at home and will have plenty to prove after losing to their main local rivals last week. But there are strong reasons to oppose them and I think there is a lot of value in Hull.
Utd will be without a total of seven first team players for this match due to them being injured or cup tied. They play a Hull side that put up a very good performance against Chelsea last week and there are signs that they have stopped the rot in the league.
Phil Brown then took his side off to Dubai for some warm-weather training - a move 12 months ago which led to a six-match unbeaten run in the league and helped boost their promotion bid from the Championship. Hull could also be boosted by the return of Jimmy Bullard and lets not forget, they are the Premier League outfit.

There are several options to back Hull here, they are 15/8 with Hills in the win market, or you could dutch both the win and draw with Hills for combined odds of 1.55. Another option is to back Hull in the “Draw No Bet” market where 21/20 with Sportingbet looks attractive. However I have marginal preference for Hull +0.25 with Stan James @ 1.75 which will give us a win to half stakes if the match is a draw.

Kind Regards
